FAQ for International Orthopaedic Patients

How do I start the process from overseas?

You can begin by emailing us your medical reports, X-rays, MRI scans, and a brief description of your symptoms. After reviewing your information, we will arrange an online consultation to discuss your condition, treatment options, and expected recovery plan.

Do I need to visit Sri Lanka before confirming surgery?

In most cases, an online consultation and review of imaging are enough to plan your surgery in advance. You would usually arrive a few days before the procedure for a physical examination and final pre-operative assessments.

How long will I need to stay in Sri Lanka?

  1. The length of stay depends on the procedure:
    • Minor arthroscopic or day procedures: 5–7 days
    • Joint replacement surgery: 2–3 weeks
    • Complex procedures: may require a slightly longer stay

We will give you a personalised estimate before you travel.

Is it safe to travel after surgery?

Yes, but timing is important. We will advise you on when it is safe to fly based on your surgery and recovery progress. We also provide guidance on mobility, exercises, and precautions during travel.

What hospitals are used for surgery?

Surgery is performed at well-equipped private hospitals in Sri Lanka with modern operating theatres, trained nursing staff, anaesthesia teams, and intensive care backup when required.

Will someone help me with hospital arrangements?

Yes. Our team assists with scheduling surgery dates, hospital admission, and coordination of investigations so your treatment journey is smooth and well organised.

What about follow-up after I return home?

We provide follow-up care through online consultations. If needed, we can coordinate with our cooperative medical partners to support aspects of your recovery closer to home.

How much will the treatment cost?

Costs vary depending on the procedure, hospital stay, and implants used. After reviewing your medical details, we will provide a clear cost estimate so you can plan in advance.

Can a family member travel with me?

Yes, and we encourage it. A companion can provide support during your recovery period. We can advise on accommodation options near the hospital.

What if I develop a problem after returning home?

You can contact us at any time. We will guide you through the next steps, arrange an online review, and coordinate care with your local doctor if necessary.
