FRACTURES AROUND THE ELBOW
How Could This Happen ?
The elbow joint is formed between the bones in the upper arm and the forearm. The bones forming the joint could get injured if the child lands on his elbow following a fall.
Is It A Common Injury?
Fractures of the elbow are not commonly seen. However, the bones may break rarely. Elbow dislocation is also not common in children.
Will It Need Surgery?
Fracture of the bone making the joint will need surgery to restore the break.
How Long It Will Take To Heal
The arm will then be immobilised in a plaster of Paris half cast for 2-3 weeks.
Will The Child Need Physiotherapy
Elbow stiffness is common after injuries to this area. However, this will ease off with few sessions of physiotherapy
